BS Zoology

Program Introduction

Zoology, branch of biology that studies the members of the animalkingdom and animal life in general. It includes both the inquiry into individual animals and their constituent parts, even to the molecular level, and the inquiry into animal populations, entire faunas, and the relationships of animals to each other, to plants, and to the nonliving environment. It is a vibrant and growing discipline with substantial relevance for modern society. The study of zoology is increasingly recognized as vital for understanding and protecting our planet. The Department of Life Sciences at UMT offers BS program in Zoology which has been designed to address the future challenges to our world and preparing the graduates to help in identifying and suggesting solutions.

The program aims to develop researchers to serve in universities, institutes for ecology, environmental agencies, veterinary healthcare, molecular biology, conservation & forest management, climate change, scientific publishing, public education (zoos, museums, nature reserves, scientific societies etc.), biomedical sciences, diagnosing genetic disorders, national institute of oceanography, wildlife conservation and management, public and private sectors, forensic department, environmental institutions and pathological laboratories.This program will promote intellectual diversity, interactive and creativity centered learning experiences, resulting in a highly marketable interdisciplinary degree.

  • 12 years of formal education FSc/ A level or equivalent with Biology and Chemistry
  • Minimum 50% marks at intermediate level or equivalent
  • Equivalence certificate from IBCC in case of O/A level
  • No third division in matric
