Program Introduction

Over the last few decades there has been a tremendous growth in IT, which has revolutionized the very outlook of the world. Given today's ubiquitous computing, organizations have a critical need for people who understand, and have an in-depth knowledge of both computers and businesses.

The School of System and Technology (SST) at UMT is offering a two-year Master of Science in Information Technology degree program. The Master of Science in Information Technology focuses on training students in the core concepts of computing and business so graduates can develop successful careers in management positions that require deep technical skills. The coursework is designed to meet the needs of students who want to build a strong background in information systems and the application of information and communications technology in business. The program is intended to produce successful technology leaders who possess deep expertise in technology and business strategy.

Information systems are a multi-faceted field, and require multi-disciplinary perspectives. In order to apply technology effectively, a broad range of subjects are covered, such as web technologies, multimedia and database systems, business management technology , data communication and networking, software design, and enterprise-wide solution development. The practice-based curriculum of the program prepares graduates to work in IT departments of corporate and manufacturing sector entities.

The projected demand for trained IT professionals indicates a clear imbalance between the demand and supply of IT professionals with the result that this sector offers one of the highest remuneration packages. The various types of job functions available in a typical net-based environment would be content development, graphic designing, e-commerce, strategic planning, and business development, etc.

Program Details

2 Years

The candidate must have 4 years of Bachelor or Equivalent Degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2.0 CGPA or 50% in the annual system. 

 

  • GAT(General)/ UMT Graduate Admission Test(at least 50%)
  • Admission Interview by UMT
  • No third division in the entire academic career
