Program Introduction

UMT has launched a two-year MS Counselling Psychology Program for the first time in Pakistan . The aim of the program is to provide students a strong foundation in counselling theories and applications, so that they can become socially responsible practitioners in Pakistan’s public and private sectors. The degree explores psychological approaches to counselling techniques, and equips postgraduates with the skills to apply these methods within counselling and healthcare contexts. Our practitioner-focused program empowers students with the comprehensive knowledge and skills to successfully provide therapeutic services for individuals, groups, and families in a broad range of community and clinical settings. Students are trained thoroughly by qualified professionals to become self-reflexive, ethically aware clinicians.

The program is designed to prepare counselling professionals who can work with individuals, families, and groups to address specific mental and emotional health issues across a range of settings including community organizations, human service agencies, community clinics, mental health centers and private practice.

Program Details

2 Years

BS (Hon) in Psychology with CGPA of 2.0/4.00 or M.Sc Psychology with 1stDiv, 50% marks in the annual system from a reputable and HEC recognized University

  • No third division in the entire academic career
  • The candidate must have passed UMT Graduate Admission Test and Interview with a minimum score of 50%.
  • The candidate is selected for the performance on their admission test and interview
  • Personal suitability to become a Counselling Psychologist is essential
  • All those candidates who have completed Diploma in Counselling from HEC recognized University can apply and may be considered for credit transfer. The equivalence committee will make their final decisions
