Program Introduction

The Bachelor of Laws (Latin: Legum Baccalaureus; LL.B) is an undergraduate degree of law originating in England. The LL.B degree helps a student to develop both critical thinking skills and awareness of the common law legal traditions. LL.B graduates are able to absolve problematic situations and apply analytical skills in diverse range of legal and non-legal scenarios.

The School of Law and Policy (SLP) at UMT offers a five-year LL.B degree program. The objective of the program is to produce legal practitioners who are not only able to excel in the local market, but are also able to successfully compete in the international arena. It is one of the most popular degree programs and is the first step into the highly lucrative competitive legal profession.

SLP provides the student with a solid foundation for the career paths and equips them with the ability to analyze, communicate, negotiate, and reason with people from all walks of life. A law graduate has a clear understanding of legislative, judicial, and executive system of a country. LL.B degree empowers law graduates to raise their voice against violence, injustice, inequality, crime against humanity, and suppression by oppressors. After attaining the LL.B degree, a law
graduate can pursue higher studies or can start practicing as an advocate in different courts in Pakistan.

The program follows the guidelines prescribed by the Higher Education Commission, and the program matches the new rules of Pakistan Bar Council.
