TALENT SCHOLARSHIP (Special Scholarship by PWWB)

The University of Management and Technology has evolved into a premier institution of higher learning in the country. It is recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as a 'W4' category (highest rank) university. UMT offers a broad range of 140 bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs in disciplines such as Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Business and IT, Computer Science, Economics, Education, Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Management, Supply Chain, Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Linguistics, Media and Communication, School Management, Social Sciences, Educational Leadership Management, Law, English Language Teaching, and many more.

 With the collaboration of Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB), UMT is offering special scholarship to the factory workers and/or their children for all programs offered at UMT.

Learning Investment

The Labour department is responsible for payment of all the expenses of the PWWB students. It makes payments on behalf of the students against the admission fee, tuition fee, transport charges, hostel/messing charges, registration fee, examination fee, library fee, Lab fee, computer fee etc.

Eligibility Criteria

This scholarship is provided to the workers’ children/ workers as per completion of following criteria:

  • A person is qualified as a labor department worker and he must fulfills the definition of worker

  • The worker should have a valid social security card

  • An organization will be deemed as a factory if it fulfills the definition of a factory as is defined in the Workers’ Welfare Fund Ordinance 1971 or Companies’ Profit Workers Participation Act 1968 Establishments must be registered under Factories Act 1934

  • The worker/ miner or his child seeking admission should not have been involved in any illegal activity or criminal proceedings

Documents Required for Admission

The candidates need to submit the following set of documents along with their admission application form at the time of admission:

  • Copy of worker/ miner’s CNIC

  • Copy of worker/ miner’s Social Security Card/ Old Age Benefit Card

  • Copy of worker/ miner’s Factory Card/ Employee Card

  • Copy of worker/ miner’s Appointment Letter

  • The Factory Registration Certificate under the Factories’ Act 1934

  • Copy of CNIC/ Family Registration Certificate issued by NADRA of the prospective student

  • Worker/ miner’s Service Certificate and a certificate on his/ her good moral conduct

  • Domicile of the candidate applying for admission

  • Copies of academic records including mark sheets, degrees, certificates, diplomas, etc.

Candidate needs to sign an affidavit on a Rs. 50. Stamp Paper stating that if he/ she discontinues his/ her education, he/she will pay all the educational expenditures back to the Labour Department.

Admission Process

The candidates meeting above scholarship requirements are requested to complete online admission process as per following details. Candidates are required to Courier the set of labor documents at UMT Admissions Office.

  • After completion of  admission form, candidates are required to appear for UMT admission test and they will be shortlisted for merit list
  • Once the candidates find their name in the merit list, they are requested to courier following documents to UMT admissons Office

    • Copy of worker/ miner’s CNIC

    • Copy of worker/ miner’s Social Security Card/ Old Age Benefit Card

    • Copy of worker/ miner’s Factory Card/ Employee Card

    • Copy of worker/ miner’s Appointment Letter

    • The Factory Registration Certificate under the Factories’ Act 1934

    • Copy of CNIC/ Family Registration Certificate issued by NADRA of the prospective student

    • Worker/ miner’s Service Certificate and a certificate on his/ her good moral conduct

    • Domicile of the candidate applying for admission

    • Copies of academic records including mark sheets, degrees, certificates, diplomas, etc.

  • After Receiving and verification of admission documents at admission office candidate will have to appear for admission test/interview and secure more than 50% Marks at undergraduate level and 60% marks at Graduate level

  • Merit List of selected candidates will be uploaded on the website

  • Selected candidates will be required to submit PKR 25000 as security deposit and also PKR 15000 if they need hostel 

Scholarship Continuation

This scholarship is provided for a maximum of 8 semesters or the maximum duration of the student’s respective degree program. In case if a student repeats a course or semester, he/she has to deposit the dues as per UMT rules and regulations.
