MS Public Policy (Regular/Weekend)

Program Introduction

The study of public policy has gradually received attention within the academic spheres of Pakistan. Therefore, the numbers of training, educational, and research establishments and universities which are offering such programs in 2024 have steadily grown but despite all these developments, the outcome still fails to measure the multidimensional demands for policy experts.

The niche provided by emerging demand as against a scarce supply situation has warranted innovative academic leaders like UMT to renew its commitment to leading and learning for the greater good of the state and society by offering an MS in Public Policy degree.

The School of Governance and Society (SGS) is offering a two-year MS Public Policy degree program that enables students to comprehend opportunities, challenges, resource constraints, and systemic impediments that characterize the national setting in all spheres of public policy. Additionally, the program enables students to develop viable policy solutions to accelerate the pace of social and economic development in the country.

The underlying focus of the degree program is on policy paradigms that impact human security in all its forms and manifestations that include economic development, constitutional and administrative laws, policy processes, mechanisms and procedures, interagency coordination, psychosocial and cultural dynamics, taxation, human rights, national security, environment, housing needs, and agriculture. Furthermore, the teaching approach encompasses a blend of learning methodologies consistent with modern practices.

The graduates of MS Public Policy have a diversified job market that encompasses a broad range of opportunities. They are able to secure jobs in the public sector, corporate sector, NGOs and INGOs, UN and international financial institutions, aid agencies, government policy groups, think tanks, research institutes, and monitoring organizations, government planning departments and ministries, etc.
