PhD Political Science

Program Introduction

Politics is everywhere from global hegemony to intra state ethnic rivalries based on identity politics. The subject of Political Science aims to answer these questions by analytically engaging with issues and developing parsimonious theories. It is a contemporary subject which deconstructs reality. The core objective of PhD in Political Science is to enhance the understanding of PhD Scholars and to help them recognize how people engage in politics, and how governments and other bodies that exercise power make decisions that shape peoples' lives. Furthermore, the objective of the PhD program is to provide students with analytical skills and substantive knowledge needed to both generate and evaluate research in Political Science. This will help to develop a normative understanding of not only how the world works but also how it can be changed. Moreover, PhD in Political Science from UMT would provide a foundation for careers in politics, government, public service and civil activism, diplomacy and international relations.
